Course description
To expose participants to a wide range of versatile methods for statistical analysis of experiments in the agricultural, life and

veterinary sciences. The course focuses on how to carry out ANOVA and regression and related models in a broad sense, using both parametric and semi-parametric approaches. The computation vehicle is the free statistical software programme and environment R.

The need to formulate and test hypotheses based on the design and purpose of experiments is a prerequisite for good science. The series of courses will focus specifically on:

ANOVA models
Linear and non-linear regression
Categorical data analysis
Mixed-effects models
Survival analysis
Multivariate statistics and clustering techniques

In addition participants are taught how to organise data and statistical analysis using R and other auxiliary open-source programmes.

The objective is that the courses will build up an environment and network of PhD students and future researchers in the Nordic countries with knowledge of the capability of using one of the fastest growing statistical software programmes and environments in the world.
