Course description
The course will be organised at Hawassa University in Ethiopia, using a format similar to the course Sustainable use of tropical soils in 2010. The aim of the course is to give a multidisciplinary overview of use, destruction and rehabilitation of tropical soils in an authentic setting. It will consist of lectures (soil science, biology, agronomy, socioeconomics), excursions and group work. The final exam is a group report from group work done during the course around a specific problem related to the course themes. In addition to the Nordic students we’ll have African students attending as well. The course gives an excellent opportunity to learn about the tropics and get to know students from this part of the world. Students need to pay their own travel to Ethiopia.
